What are the labelling requirements for my product(s)?
This question applies mainly to consumer products such as food (including health and supplemental), clothing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics etc. The major enforcers of these laws are the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA – http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA – http://www.inspection.gc.ca/), Health Canada (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (http://www.strategis.ic.gc.ca/).
In general, all labels must only contain information that is truthful and not misleading to the consumer. With extremely limited exemptions such as test marketing, bilingual labelling in English and French is required on all pre-packaged goods sold in Canada.
