This report reflects our enduring commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries through trade. Amid rising protectionism, disrupted supply chains, and shifting global priorities, trade is more complex and more critical than ever. TFO Canada’s work has never been more relevant.
In 2024–2025, we deepened our engagement with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), helping them build capacity, expand their reach, and forge meaningful connections in Canadian and international markets. Through targeted training, tailored support services, and strategic partnerships, we supported hundreds of entrepreneurs – especially women and youth – to grow their sales, enhance their competitiveness, and navigate today’s evolving trade landscape.
Our impact is reflected in the resilience of SMEs and their adoption of inclusive and sustainable practices. By championing gender equality and green trade, we continue to reimagine trade as a force for equity, opportunity, and long-term prosperity.

TFO Canada is proud to present its fourth Annual Impact Report. This report highlights our collective efforts, resilience, and dedication to fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries.
Over the past year, TFO Canada has continued to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by enhancing their capacity to access global markets. Through our targeted training programs, market linkages, and strategic partnerships, we have supported numerous entrepreneurs, especially women and youth, to thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy.
Our initiatives have not only facilitated trade opportunities but have also contributed to the broader goals of poverty reduction and sustainable development. By promoting fair trade practices and environmental sustainability, we are ensuring that the benefits of trade are shared equitably and responsibly.
TFO Canada extends its deepest gratitude to our partners, funders, associates, and dedicated staff, whose unwavering support and commitment have been instrumental in our successes. TFO Canada Annual Impact Report 2022-2023
TFO Canada is proud to present its third Annual Impact Report. As the main COVID-19 pandemic measures were lifted, many in-person events resumed during the year 2022-2023. While the year was not a complete “return-to-normal”, our team, partners, project participants and funders were able to adapt nicely to several challenges that included global inflationary pressures, political unrest in some countries as well as the ongoing struggles related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
This year’s report highlights a number of impactful activities and thematic areas that are representative of the work TFO Canada performs. From exporter training/capacity building programs to international market access activities, to research and understanding key sectors, our reach has been tremendous. As a result, we have been able to advance in the delivery of our mission of improving lives through the creation of sustainable trade partnerships for exporters from developing countries with Canadian and foreign buyers.
Like past years, none of this would have been possible without the strong partnerships that we’ve developed over the years with various funders, partners, associates, and other stakeholders. With their support, TFO Canada has been able to advance its mission during the year.
TFO Canada Annual Impact Report 2021-2022
TFO Canada is proud to present its second Annual Impact Report. As we continue to respond to the global effects and challenges of COVID-19, trade led development remains our focus and is truly the centerpiece of our work. The 2020-2021 Impact Report highlights TFO Canada’s success in cultivating new funding partnerships, fostering strong relationships in target countries, and expanding our network of associates across the globe. This has allowed us to continually adapt and deliver impactful results – from developing e-services under our brand new TFO Canada website, working with trade support institutions to build the capacity of small and medium enterprises on their export market strategies, planning market access activities for the year 2022, to supporting the governments of Peru and Indonesia in enhancing trade facilitation processes that will save time and money for companies doing business in these countries.
Once again, none of this would have been possible without the strong partnerships that we’ve developed over the years with various funders, partners, associates, and other stakeholders. With their support, TFO Canada has been able to advance its mission during the year.
TFO Canada Annual Impact Report 2020-2021
During the year 2020-2021, TFO Canada conducted project activities in 27 countries, raised a total of $1.6 million in export sales by the Small and Medium Enterprises, and provided training for 1,393 Trade Support Institutions and Small and Medium Enterprises.
Although the year 2020-2021 has been shaped by the impacts of COVID-19 we have still been able to pursue our mission of improving lives through the creation of sustainable trade partnerships for exporters from developing countries with Canadian and foreign buyers. Regardless of the collective and individual challenges we have all faced, at TFO Canada we learned to adapt to these changes and remained committed to our mission.
