TFO Canada’s Trade Mission to SIAL 2016

A very important service that TFO Canada delivers to both importers and exporters is its CONTACT service. This service brings developing country exporters face-to-face with Canadian importers and buyers through buyers’ missions to developing countries and exporters’ missions to Canada. For over a decade, TFO Canada has been supporting developing country exporters to attend SIAL, Canada’s national tradeshow for food products.

This year we have targeted two specific countries with unique and market driven products: TFO Canada will be supporting 21 exporters from Sri Lanka and Tunisia. One of the key products from the Sri Lankan exporters is COCONUT with its diverse and multi-purpose forms. Of eight Sri Lankan companies participating in SIAL, four will be promoting coconut products while the remainder will be promoting seafood, biscuits, spices, cashew and fruit based products.Coconut products have been one of the rising stars in the world of superfoods, with the importation of these goods steadily increasing over the last five years:

Beverages:

• Coconut water
• Coconut beverages (fruit-flavoured coconut water)
• Organic coconut milk

Vinegar:

• Coconut vinegar

Oils and fats:

• Organic virgin coconut oil
• Extra virgin coconut oil
• Coconut butter
• Coconut cream

Confectionary and baking inputs and snacks:

• Organic coconut flour
• Desiccated coconut
• Organic coconut sugar
• Coconut paste
• Coconut chips
