TFO Canada 2017 Importer Engagement
Happy New Year! In 2016 we reached out to you through a telephone and written survey and we listened. In 2017 TFO Canada aims to solidify being your sourcing partner. A look at some activities to look forward to from us are:
- Incoming trade missions to Canada from Central America along with one to the SIAL Show by suppliers from Bolivia, Jordan, Peru, Sri Lanka and Tunisia
- Tradeshow participation with a booth at the CPMA
- Webinars focused on specific sectors and product offerings by Trade Support Institutions in developing countries
- A more modern and responsive Canadian Buyer’s section of our website
- A multisector ImportInfo newsletter
- Hosting 30 LDCs artisans from our Artisan Hub project at a Canadian tradeshow
Regulatory Updates
On January 20, 2017, the proposed Safe Food for Canadian Regulations (SFCR) was pre-published in Canada Gazette, Part I (CGI) – an important milestone that will mark the start of a 90-day public consultation. The CFIA has been consulting on the regulatory framework for bringing the SFCA into force since 2012 and they are confident that ongoing stakeholder input will continue to shape the proposal and advance the regulatory process towards conclusion. Visit inspection.gc.ca/safefood to learn more and submit your feedback. During the 90-day consultation period, the CFIA will host a series of webinars and information sessions across Canada. View the calendar and register online at inspection.gc.ca/safefood. The consultation closes on April 21, 2017.
Canadian Buyer’s Incentives to Attend International Trade Shows
TFO Canada heard your need for opportunities to source new suppliers. Occasionally our partner countries have incentives for Canadian buyers to attend trade events. Here are five buyer incentive programs in a variety of sectors:
