Top Five TFO Canada Services to Watch for 2016

A new year brings expectations of new beginnings and big plans for building your business. As you begin to implement your import plans this year, TFO Canada invites you to use our website tools, participate in our trade missions and visit a number of our developing countries exporters at tradeshows. We invite you to consider participating and using these five exciting services TFO Canada will be offering in 2016:

1. NEW WEBSITE TOOLS

In 2015, we added a number of new tools that provide quick access to trade information and puts research for new markets or products at your fingertips. These new tools are:

  • Trade Data Online: Where importers and exporters alike can access Canada’s trade data with the world
  • Automatic Importer Reference System (AIRS): A Canadian Food Inspection Agency database that provides timely information on import regulations for food and products made from natural materials (textiles, wood, etc.)
  • Canadian Customs Tariff: Provides a unique search tool to identify tariff rates by product keyword or HS Code using data from Canadian Border Services Agency

2. TRADE MISSIONS

This year, TFO Canada is planning a number of incoming and outgoing trade mission to provide developing country exporters the opportunity to experience and understand the Canadian market and participate in business-to-business meetings. Two importer missions have been planned from Canada to the Americas and one exporter mission from Central America to Canada. Watch your email for invitations to participate in these missions or set up meetings with the exporters.

3. TRADESHOW PARTICPATION OF DEVELOPING COUNTRY EXPORTERS

TFO Canada will be supporting a number of countries’ exporters to participate in selected Canadian tradeshows, including SIAL and the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) East Tradeshow. During SIAL, which will be in Montreal from April 13-15, 2016, we will be supporting two countries with approximately thirty exporters. For CHFA East, which will be held in Toronto from September 15-18, 2016, we will be supporting one country. 4. LEAST DEVELOPING COUNTRIES (LDCs) APPAREL, SPECIALITY TEXTILES AND FABRICS ROADSHOW

A new and exciting event in 2016 will be our roadshow to promote apparel, specialty textiles and fabrics from LDCs. To capitalize on the benefits of the duty and quota-free access of LDCs’ products into the Canadian market, TFO Canada a 2016 exposition roadshow in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver that will showcase product samples from 50 small and medium-sized exporters from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Haiti, Lesotho, Madagascar and Uganda. The targeted sectors are home textiles, garments and fashion accessories. 5. WEBINARS

Webinars are one of the effective ways that we share information on Canada’s international trade environment. TFO Canada produces a regular schedule of live webinars on a range of subjects, from an introduction of our online services to specific Canadian market entry topics presented by industry experts. This year will feature a number of webinars delivered with importers in mind.
