Shoppers introduces recycling program for Quo Beauty products
“Retailer partners with TerraCycle to reduce plastic waste
Shoppers Drug Mart is partnering with TerraCycle on a free recycling program for its private-label beauty brand.
Part of the Loblaw-owned retail pharmacy chain’s commitment to reduce plastic waste, the program allows customers to recycle empty Quo Beauty cosmetics components.
For each pound of cosmetics waste shipped in through the recycling program, $1 will be donated to Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health.
The partnership follows last year’s launch of “More Planet Love” by Quo Beauty, which includes over 500 products with more sustainable packaging, using recycled plastics, mono-materials and reduced plastic packaging.
“As we work to ensure all control brand packaging is recyclable or reusable by 2025, we continue to look for new and innovative ways to eliminate the use of single-us plastics for all product packaging,” said Pat Dean, SVP, category management, Shoppers Drug Mart, in a press release. “We are proud to partner with TerraCycle as the first major retailer to offer a recycling program for a private label colour cosmetics line, offering more sustainable choices to Canadians and reducing our impact on the planet.”
Shoppers aims to have all control-brand packaging meet the Golden Design Rules by 2025.”
