Relationship opportunities drive participation at Southern Innovations
“We are part of a very relationship-oriented industry,” says Michael DuPuis with Divine Flavor. “This makes it important for us to be present at the right events at the right time.” For that reason, Divine Flavor will be exhibiting at SEPC’s Southern Innovations event from September 14 – 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina. “It is our first time attending and exhibiting at this event and Patrick Cortes from the team is looking forward to meeting with attendees at our booth.”
What started with a fall conference in 2004 that was focused on Southern hospitality has turned into a much bigger event that brings produce companies and retailers from across the North American continent together. “It has become an event that we would like to participate in. We are very excited to be involved and are looking forward to further growing relationships and meeting with new customers.”
On display at the Divine Flavor booth will be a variety of produce items, including bell peppers, grape tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, Long English cucumbers, mini peppers, as well as a few of their exclusive table grape varieties.
Baja California and Jalisco vegetables
The company’s vegetable seasons in Baja California and Jalisco are currently in full swing. Fortunately, the company’s operations didn’t get impacted by Hurricane Hilary. “Just last year, we added organic bell peppers to our offering in Jalisco,” commented DuPuis. “Although we made a good start last year, we are still trying to figure out the climate as well as local pests. As a result, this year has been a bit more rocky, but this is all part of the process when it comes to growing organics in new territories,” he said. “By now, we are very comfortable with how to navigate through adversity with growing organics because of the experience we’ve established in Culiacan with our principal bell pepper partner, Hortifresh. Although the Jalisco location is relatively new, we look forward to how it will complement our programs in the years to come.” With the additional bell pepper offering, the company is aiming to bridge a gap in the growing seasons between West Mexico and Central Mexico/Baja.”
