COVID Regional Updates

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has caused a global health pandemic and a global economic slowdown. This has impacted international trade and development, and will no doubt have consequences for many of our partner countries. Each month we will share current COVID-19 updates from the countries we work with that might be your partners or clients in hopes to provide some insights on the markets you are importing from.

This month our bulletin will cover some of the countries we work in within the Africa Region. Please find the updates below:

Kenya

Boarder Closure
International flights resumed 1 August.
Passengers must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR test no more than 96 hours before departure.

Curfew
Nightly curfew hours are from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am

Required Isolation
No upon presenting a negative COVID test.
Certain countries exempt from quarantine (Canada is exempt)

Madagascar

Boarder Closure
From 1 October, tourist flights to/from Nosy Be will resume. Travel to mainland Madagascar is still not permitted
Certain countries are banned from flying to Nosy Be (Canada is excluded)

Curfew
No Curfew

Required Isolation
Free testing is provided at the airport upon arrival in Nosy Be. Visitors are required to quarantine until COVID-19 test results come back

Morocco   

Boarder Closure
From 6 September, visa-exempt foreign travelers with a confirmed hotel reservation or business travelers who have an invitation from a Moroccan company can enter.
Travelers must obtain a negative PCR test result for COVID-19, no more than 72 hours before to departure.

Mozambique

Boarder Closure
Travelers will be required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test results  no more than 72 hours before departure

Required Isolation
10 days mandatory quarantine.
Following the 10-day self-quarantine, travelers will be required to pass a second PCR-based COVID-19 test. The traveler will incur the cost for the test.  Alternately, travelers can complete a 14-day self-quarantine day period without undergoing a second COVID-19 test.

Nigeria

Boarder Closure
From 5 September, flights have restarted to Abuja and Lagos.
Passengers must fill out a Health Declaration Form and upload evidence of their negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 96 hours (4 days) of departure to Nigeria.

Curfew
12:00am to 4:00am daily

Required Isolation
Mandatory self-isolate at one location for 7 days, and will be tested again on day 7

Senegal

Boarder Closure
Airlines are not allowed to carry foreign nationals from countries who have advised against travel to Senegal, and will not allow entry from countries who have restrictions on travel from Senegal
Arrivals must have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued no more than 7 days before arrival.

Curfew
No Curfew

Required Isolation
Individuals with a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival will not be required to quarantine
