Egypt becomes Europe’s second-largest fresh produce exporter with 7% growth in 2023/2024
Egypt has emerged as Europe’s second-largest exporter of fresh vegetables and fruits for the export season spanning from September 2023 to August 2024, delivering 917,000 tons, marking a 7% growth compared to the previous year, as per EU data. Citrus fruits were at the forefront of this export surge, with a total of 500,000 tons, reflecting an 8% increase. Following citrus, sweet potatoes were exported at 117,000 tons, onions at 94,600 tons, and grapes at 58,000 tons.
