Understanding the Proposed Safe Food For Canadians Regulations

Are you an exporter or an importer of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables? Are you aware of proposed regulatory changes being recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on market access of these goods?

On January 20, 2017 the proposed Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) were published in Canada Gazette, Part I (CGI) which marked the start of a 90-day public consultation. The proposed SFCR introduces modern food safety requirements for businesses that import food, or prepare food to be exported or sold across provinces.
