Vietnam will welcome world leaders and successful businessmen to speak at APEC's CEO summit
The 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Week is officially opened today in Vietnam with world leaders from 21 countries set to speak.
The annual APEC summit takes place in Vietnam's central city of Da Nang from November 6 to 11 and will welcome around 12,000-14,000 delegates and several businessmen, including Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg, UPS’s CEO David Abney, and Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan Asia Pacific Nicolas Aguzin.
This year, the main theme of APEC summit is "Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future." The essential issues such as sustainable growth, economic ties, and food security in times of climate change will be discussed at the summit.
According to the official calendar, Vietnam's President Tran Dai Quang will host the opening of the APEC CEO Summit on Wednesday and the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on Saturday.
U.S. President Donald Trump will present at the summit on Friday and deliver a speech at the CEO Summit, according to the White House.
Additionally, Japan's President Shinzo Abe and China's Xi Jinping will also deliver speeches on Friday.
APEC is a regional economic forum established in 1989 and is comprised of 21 member states, including Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, among others.
